just now i was flying random headings at southern australia (YAPD) and i saw something REALLY cool :o

did you know there are SHOOTING STARS at night on fs?

maybe it was a graphical glitch, but i like to think the other way.

it was too fast for me to take a screenshot of it, so i took a screenshot without it and tried to recriate it so you can see how it looked:

this is just a simulation but i'm telling you it looked just lake that

I haven't noticed the shooting stars but I did see the Borealis Australis (Southern Lights). Wonder what other goodies are hidden in the program?

I wonder if you had done an instant replay, if you would have seen it again? Sometimes if I notice something kinda funky I will do a replay and then slow it down so that I can get the screenshot that I want.

Cool to know!

Does FS record your flights without making any settings?  I have never looked at a replay of a flight.  It might be kind of cool to see that terrific landing once again or something like that.

just goto the menu bar then there is an instant replay option which will go back over the flight to a set time, i dont know the maximum amount though i'm afraid

I do this all the time! Its very cool to watch a reply of your landing or takeoff. You can switch between all the views too and look at it from every different angle... ;D

I always watch my landings on the instant replay, just to see how much I f***** them up. It's usually fairly interesting, especially in a crosswind.

I've seen the fx files for the shooting stars so they ARE implimented into FS2002, but i've never seen one. I wonder if it's possible to change the frequency of how often they appear???

The White Beam in Las Vegas is from the top of the
Luxor Hotel/casino. The fireworks occure at the same time every night I believe. The ones in Washington DC occur on Julty 4th

When I first started simming back in January, I was flying one of the training flights out of Everett Washing and missed a marker for a turn.  I flew on for about 45 minutes toward Alaska and saw a hot air bloon (in the dark) and also a shooting star.  Was a pleasant suprize!! ;D
