Pete - it was the little prog that activates the crash effects. I found it on this site or the Outhouse - cannot remember which. I downloaded it some time back and just now got around to installing it.
I always zip/install to a separate folder as well. But this one did not give the option and after I discovered that - it was too late. It jumped right to install without a prompt, or letting me set the destination.
I boot after every install to identify the culprit if any cause a problem.
When I tried to launch FS2K2 it went to the splash sceen for a few and then would simply go away and return back to desktop.
Then the uninstall would do the same.
As would the install - except it would give the nasty little message mentioned above.
No big deal I guess - I had backed up recently. Just a pain to have to go through it. And to top it off it was only for 10 aircraft, but if you want them all that way, you could send $1.99 to......
Not very likely, I would say.
I cannot name the file for you. I deleted it. And later I dumped the trash in case FS2K2 uses the recycle bin as a swap file like some progs do. Should have written it down so I could warn others - sorry.
Ozzy - funny you should mention the gun trick. The mother board I had before this one had some really serious issues with XP - even though it was set up for it. It became well known for this after it was out for awhile. But who knew when it was just released to the market? I only had it for a few weeks before I made them give me my money back and got another brand.
Anyway at one point it got so exasperating that I threatened it and laid my Military .45 on top of the case - it would work fine whenever the pistol was on top of the case. Like it knew or something. LOL
