Scenery Add-On/Enable?

Postby boise_1 » Wed May 21, 2003 8:07 pm

I have downloaded the 'Cadiz' (Spain) scenery add-on. When I attempt an 'Add area' operation, I get: 'Path "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fs2002\ADDON SCENERY\SCENERY\cadiz" already exists'. That's encouraging, but how do I actually access the scenery for a flight? 'Cadiz' doesn't appear when I select  'Current location/change/airport name' ..
(Yes, this is my first attempt with an add-on  ??? )

Thanks for any help!

Try going into the "Change Current Location" screen and at the bottom check "Search Add-on Scenery".That should do it.It always works for me.

Thanks, I did try that, the screen displays 'Zero airports found'.

Did you manually amend your scenery.cfg file to include an entry for it when you installed it?

It sounds as though it's already there when you're trying to add it in the scenery library.

I'm unfamiliar with this scenery add-on - is it an airport or general scenery for the area?

I haven't changed (edited) any config files. I'm not sure if the Cadiz http://www.fsplanet.com/best.htm add-on constitutes a 'scenery' or an 'airport'.

Check the contents of the readme file in the download.

If it's just scenery, you won't get a location in the menu. If it's an airport, just select it from the usual airport menu and see if it looks any different.

Tipster got it in one. From the file description this is terrain mesh scenery which should improve the default terrain around Cadiz & the surrounding area. There is no new airport so no separate airport entry will be listed on the menu.

I get: 'Path "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Fs2002\ADDON SCENERY\SCENERY\cadiz" already exists'. That's encouraging,

If this path is correct you installed the cadiz scenery to the FS2002\ADDON SCENERY\SCENERY folder. This will automatically activate it when you next run the sim but is not the best location. IMHO
I suggest moving the cadiz folder to the ADDON SCENERY folder itself & activating it via the Scenery Library.
