autoland / gs

Postby flexie » Wed May 21, 2003 6:16 am

Hi,

Big planes, like 747 or 777 do not hold the glide slope in Approach mode. Why is this? What is the best way to make an autoland? I have AT and AP connected.

hi,

insert the correct runway frequency into the nav1 radio. than hit nav and switch the nav/gps switch to nav. put the AP on and see what it does.

also, when you want to land using the ILS, enter the ILS localizer not too high (max 2-3000ft), otherwise your radio won't intercept it

Yeah height matters alot aswell, if your too high you won't intercept, or i find if your too low it's hard to maintain a good final descent and speed. ATC usually tell me to be at about 2,200. ;D
