Need help with FS2002

I'm new at downloading aircraft to my FS2002.  I have windows XP if it matters.

I downloaded 3 new aircraft for me to fly which I love, but since I've downloaded them my FS2002 has slowed down drastically.  Frame rates jump etc.  Before this It ran very smooth.

Could anyone help me solve this problem?  I really don't want to have to delete these file to regain  performance

It sounds like your new aircrafts are rather large files. Highly detailed aircraft do that, if your machine doesn't have enough memory or your video card isn't up to the challange of rendering your plane and scenery at the settings you have.

Try lowering the Graphics settings. You might have to compromise on the quality of the display to get your frame rates back.

What are your computer stats (memory, hd, video card etc.)?
What aircraft did you add (sometimes the designers read these forums and may have some suggestions)?

But it sounds like Fisharno nailed it on the head.  Graphic settings are usually the key to make things go smoother.

There are two other options.
Firstly background software, especially anti-virus if it is running whilst you are playing it will dramatically slow down the system.
Secondly the SP1 pack or improved security software released by M$ will knacker your system too. There are no known fixes for either of these other than to reinstall XP.

That's a bit of a broad generalisation there LOL. I have SP1 (and almost all SP2) updates installed with no problem. It's the old story of how your own P.C. setup matches up.

It's worth having a look for Ramsa'a "Important! Important! Important!" thread which currently should be on one of the first two pages of this forum. There is one update that throws a major spanner in the works and should be removed. Ramsa lists it but I can't see it right now as I'm writing this. ;D
