Hello everyone,

I un-installed FS2002 a year ago or so becuase it would no longer play in MP due to my ADSL.

Recently I have wanted to play, so I tried to install it but everytime I install it (I've tried at lest 10 times) it gives me an errror:

It says on 35-36 % that C:\Program Files|Microsoft Games\FS 2002\ Aircraft\Lear45\Sound\Lan1strt.wav

And it says to check if it's in use or if your hard disk is full...

I know I have more than enough space and I've played FS2002 on this computer before.

I'm using Direct X 9.0
1.7 Ghz
Geforce 4 Ti4600
1280 RAM
Sound Blaster EXtigy

Any help is appricated.

How much space have you got?

Did you uninstall properly? (ideally using the Add/Remove Programs utilility in your Control Panel)

After you uninstall it's always a good idea to refresh your Windows OS  by rebooting.

You could also try installing into a different location - e.g. C:\FS2002

There may also be various possibilities causing a conflict but you should think carefully about what you have running ...

There may also be a simple solution someone else knows of..

:)Try using the windows search feature and see if the file that is mentioned in the error message "Aircraft\Lear45\Sound\ Lan1strt.wav " is still present. It sounds like it may have become corrupted, hence the error message. If so you could go to that aircraft's sound file and remove that file, so the rest of the program will start. If the problem is when you are installing then you might try cleaning the CD or get another one to install.
Hope this helps a little.

I had a similar problem with a font file that stopped the loading at 12%. It seems it wasn't uninstalled at the time and blocked  the reinstall. As suggested hunt that file down and remove it. Worked OK for me after that and I can appreciate how frustrated you must be. Good luck! (I've reinstalled a few times since and the problem has not reoccurred)
