Is there a way to get FS2002 to use all the aircraft I have added to my aircraft folder as AI traffic?

of course you can...but:

-it's better for you to use planes who are made for AI use, other planes kill your fps when u use them as AI

-use GMAX planes, otherwise you don't see the landing gear.

-you can add them with Ttools. it's a very good little program to ad A/C's as well as flightplans. check the Ttools and AFCAD forum for more info.

-check out www.projectAI.com
they make airline package you can easily install. they use frame rate friendly planes and they provide lots of  real existing airlines!

hope this AI introduction helps you a bit. if you want more info, go to the Ttools and AFCAD forum. if something isn't clear, just ask it there or send me an instant message!

;)

If for some reason you want to make a couple planes AI aircraft only, use an .air file editor to change the [AIRCRAFT TYPE], so it won't show up on your FS aircraft list, but still be in the program as AI traffic.

I'm not at my home computer at the moment, to check this, but I think, AI aircraft types are "0", and normal aircrafts are "1".
I use "Flight Dynamics Editor", availible here at SimV, in the utilities section to make the changes.

I've never actually done this myself but I'm fairly sure A.I. only aircraft type is 2.

Correct. Type 0 is flyable & Type 2 is AI Only. I have no idea what Aircraft Type 1 is.  ???

Actually, all this tweak does is remove the aircraft from the SELECT A FLIGHT menu. You can also do it in reverse with the default AI Only drones like the dh_dash8_100. Then simply pop in a panel & sound & Hey Presto.........!

There is also a little program I found over at Avsim called GA Traffic Generator, which generates about 2000+ flights for GA aircraft in addition to the existing ones.  Now my airports are busy, and you can use your list of aircraft for it to generate these flights (so they all won't be the same boring default M$ aircraft).

Thanks, guys. I knew it was one of those.

It is actually useful if you don't care to fly some of your AI aircraft. There's about 11 that I downloaded just for use as AI traffic. To keep things real, as it were, at Reno-Tahoe Airport.

Do aircraft made with abacus's design thing work too, with all the aircraft i've got made with it the AI gear works, is this right?

Well, if they were indeed made with FSDS (most likely v2)... and they show up, then it must work.  I think those made with FSDS v1 worked too, just some models didn't.
