CH Pro Pedals & MS Sidewinder Pro Joystick

Postby tripleace » Sun Apr 27, 2003 9:12 am

Hi y'all................Does anyone know how to (or even if it's possible) to use the CH Pro pedals with the MS Sidewinder joystick. I haven't been able to do it and would like to be able to pilot my Stearmans with the joystick rather than using the Flight yoke and still have the use of my pedals.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Tripleace  (KGCM) ???

I've a vague recollection that it is possible, but the method escapes me. I'll have to go dig it out.

If I remember rightly, the solution may be OS dependant. Which windows version do you have?

Couple more questions:

Do you have your pedals plugged into your soundcard and if so, it is a soundblaster card, or is it a USB connection?

Could those having problems please tell me precisely where the problem lies. Is it that you can only select one controller (joystick) or the other (pedals)?

Or is it that when the pedals are connected they don;t perform correctly?

As a start, some versions of these pedals run their commands through the midi interface.  If yours are in this category, you'll need to have the midi interface detected and working before you'll get any results.

In the case of the soundcard connection, you can also try this:

Go into Device Manager - Sound video joystick - Gameport joystick - Resources. If your Basic Configuration is set at '0' and your Input/Output reads 0200 - 0201, change the Basic Configuration to '1' and reset the Input/Output to 0200 - 0207.
Only do this if the original settings are as shown and make a note of them in case you need to revert to your original settings.

I want to thank all that responded to my post.  Sorry I didn't supply all the info though.  I have a Dell 8250 2.4Gz , 512ram, soundblaster sound card, and am using the USB ports. When I try to use the pedals in conjunction with the joystick, the simulator only recognizes the joystick. If I try to use the pedals the aircraft does very strange things. I'm a real novice at these things so try not to get to technical. I need pictures rather than words   :P  .  Thanks again for the help.  Tripleace  (KGCM).   :D

No Problem. :)

Ok - it would be useful if you ould describe the "weird" behaviour of the aircraft when the pedals are in use, but meantime, could you confirm that you've assigned the pedals (as opposed to the joystick) to the right controls in the options/control assignments screen?

Hey FSTipster...Just made a short hop around the field and everything is working like a champ...I don't understand why but I'm not going to knock it.  The only thing I did different was to plug the joystick into the front USB port and the pedals into the rear USB port. The sim recognizes both the joystick and the pedals now and I can use the stick to operate the rudder or the pedals.  Thanks again for the help you rendered and if I ever have a problem again I'll sure enought come to you for the help....Thanks again to all that responded to me problem...Tripleace  (KGCM)  P.S. If any of you ever make a touchdown at Tulsa International, I'm only about 20 miles due east. Stop by for coffee..I'm buyin'
