More British military stuff?

:( I live in The UK and i like to fly aircraft from UK bases, but at the mo there isn't much about.  I use places like Brize Norton, Scampton and Valley, i also use Farnbrough for my flight video's, airshows.  I have also found it hard to get hold of realistic British aircraft.  I admit that i don't have the skills to produce things, and this poll isn't a moan, but i just want to see how many people think like myself.  I think that the work produced is wonderfull and i the developers are great, i am not dissin any work, Its great keep it up guys!

Hi Jake, welcome to SimV. There are a number of developments on the British front at the moment, you might want to visit the TLUK forum here to see some. And a number of scenery and aircraft downloads are available here too for British military stuff, but like you I can never get enough of my home countries aircraft.

Ozzy :)

Actually Britain isn't much of a player in the world of military aviation manufacture any more. It has shrunk from one of the world's largest producers  at one stage to zero aircraft manufacture. Nowadays Britain is only involved in components & engines - no aircraft manufacturer is based in the UK - that I am aware of..

What I'd like to see is more Russian, French & Swedish aircraft. These countries have very strong military aircraft industries & I feel they are under-represented in the world of FS.

Blasphemer!

You dare not call Slingsby an aircraft manufacturer?  BN is even returning the Trislander to production!

The Tower beckons!

I feel that what you are saying is not true.

The US have taken many designs from the Brits to manufacture.

On a more serious note - the fact remains that (freeware) flightsim builders will build what *they* want and what piques their fancy.

Modern military aircraft - especially the "new generation" fighters present a definite challenge to the flightsim builder.  We have vectoring thrusts, warping wings .. to name a couple ,,, that are not truly supported in the FS sims.  "Technology" has long outpaced the MS Flightsim "capabilities".

One area that many flightsim builders have not "ventured" into is the project studies, etc.

Before the Boeing 767 was finalized, one of the studies was for a trijet ...  the 747SP was also considered a trijet, as well as a twin jet...  One of the most aesthetically pleasing fighters to grace the skies, the Hawker Hunter (back when aesthetics went hand in hand with performance), was to be the base for a twin engined civil business jet.

I agree with all of you and do admit that the air industry in Britain is fast decreasing, but you still have to admire some of the work that has come out of the UK, like the Vulcan and Lightning, all time clasic aircraft!  Also freeware developers do build what they would like, and that isn't what this poll is about, it is about seeing how many people think on the same terms and levels! ;D
