What is the difference between choosing the NAV and GPS switches at any time, but specifically during approach ?

The difference between the two is what the autopilot references during flight.

If it is set to NAV, then the autopilot receives input from #1 VOR and flies the current heading that it is set to.

If it is set to GPS, then the autopilot receives input from the GPS, but can only be used if there is a flight plan created for it to follow.

You can't use the GPS for approaches (at least not coupled to the autopilot... the autopilot will not fly a GPS approach)... M$ seems to have limited itself to including only one type of approach in the simulator, and that is the ILS Approach.

It would be nice if they included the GPS, VOR, LDA, and NDB approaches in it... But, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
