Press Alt and go into settings - sounds.  You will find volumes in there that you can adjust.  You can then put ATC up and turn your engine noises down.  You can also eliminate that annoying bleep from NAV1 in this way!!! (well, almost)

You can eliminate the morse code by clicking on the NAV1 or 2 button.  It's a toggle switch.  Don't worry, it doesn't turn the radio off.

Absolutely.  That morse drives me to distraction.

Finally, you may be asking yourself what use it is turning the audio on for Nav1, Nav2 and the ADF? All you hear is this annoying morse code!

In a real aircraft, if you tune the ADF radio to an AM radio station and turn the audio on, you can listen to the station, right?

Thanks Tipster.  That clears up a lot.

I usually press the buttons just to confirm that I'm within range.  When the morse code starts I have my confirmation and I press the button again.

Heck, I find the "beeping" Nav radio kind of soothing. Especially during a long "Red-eye" flight. It keeps me focused on my insturments and map.
