Your FS2002... What do you like?

Postby MattNW » Wed Apr 09, 2003 6:50 pm

Just curious. Everyone has their favorites so I was wondering what everyone here likes in FS2002.

For me it's the small planes (singles and light twins) and popping in and out of small airstrips and tiny airports. Right now I started at my hometown airport and headed West. I don't decide where I'm going until I am in the plane at my last destination then I plan a couple legs (enough flying time for that evening) and head off to wherever. At present I'm in Hong Kong and not sure how far I'll eventually go  :) although I've always wanted to fly the "Hump" in Burma.

When I started it was in the Cessna 182 but somewhere in the Western USA I changed to the Baron with FsTipster's fantastic new panel. On one leg I tried the King Air but found it too large for my tastes so I went back to the Baron.

So, what's yours? What kind of planes do you like flying and what kind of travels are you into? No right or wrong answers just your opinions.

Not sure if I'm on a RTW trip or not. It wasn't going to be but I just kept going  ;D and now I'm in Hong Kong. Hope I don't catch that germ going around. Or maybe it'll affect my computer since it is a virtual Hong Kong. Better fire up Norton and do a scan.

So far I haven't added anything else to my Baron except your panel but I'm looking in on the repaints section to find out how it's done.

I had a cool screen shot over Taiwan but I can't seem to get the forum to post my screen shots so it'll have to wait.

I'm heavily into pushing the aerobatics envelope, so I fly anything into near impossible situations, and then hope to come out the other end with all the parts of the aircraft still attatched....
Favourite planes include any Beechcraft, Spitfires, An225s (my prefered stunt plane), 747s (my other favourite stunt plane), helis, and biplanes.
Quite enjoy certain jets too (fighters not commercial).

I like messing around in vintage light aircraft. I've spent many hours searching round for suitable types to use for AI traffic around my home airport. As an enthusiastic (sadly untalented) amateur designer I create my own special AI Only versions of some rarer birds with FSDS2.  Here's my version of the Miles M.38 Messenger over its home field.

They might not look too good from up close but they're my "babies" & I also enjoy flying them. It's now much how I remember it in the early 60s when I started work for the local flying club. My favourite aircraft has to be John Woodside's excellent Tiger Moth.

I like the ATC and Progressive taxi, the Boeing 747, and the flight planner. The planner is what I most enjoy because I can make a true flight and know where I'm going instead of just finding another runway to land on.

Flying about exploring mountainous terrain in 1950's vintage jet fighters.

Don't ask why because I couldn't say.

I like light aircraft and vintage fighters. Occasionally I do unsuitable things with a 747 e.g. water skiing etc.

but i'm with Hagar on the Tiggie... I love it also.

Hey Matt.  I fly the Baron with Tipster's panel too, won't touch anything else (once you've had a Tipster panel, you never go back...).

I've been compiling a suite of flights  that tour the Appalachian Mountains using small airports from Georgia to Maine.  In the Baron they are a thrill, and if you add variable weather (including some just above minimums) you get a real treat.  The orginal list of destinations came from someone else, but I've added flight plans (both for 2002 and FS Nav 4.x formats), descriptions, weather, airport information (including actual photos) and few charts.  I am modeling the whole thing after the flights that come with FS 2k2 Pro ("Aerial Chueffeur", "Desert Adventure", "Hawaiian vacation", etc.).  Thus, they appear as an entry in your flights menu, with a set of nested legs that include descriptions.  Each begins with the Baron parked cold and dark at a ramp (some airports are so small they have only GA parking) ready for you to fuel up (mileage is listed), get clearance and take off.  Most are VFR but a couple are IFR because of the weather.  A couple are some of the most challenging approaches thru the mountains I've tried and the scenery is gorgeous.

Anyway, I have complete documentation on the first 10 legs (the remaining 13 are in the works).  I'd be willing  to send them to you.  In fact, if you are game, I'd like someone to write up a little 'briefing' on each one (like one that appears in the 2k2 flights (see Aerial Cheuffuer).  I've figured out how to get these to pop up as the flight starts.  let me know. Recently I've been on a turboprop kick, as there's a great ATR 72 been doing the rounds. It has a great panel and some great sounds, so I've been flying that to and from my home airport of EGAC.

Mostly I enjoy flying IFR in some kind of big jet and getting everything absolutely right. I like my FS2002 to be as realistic as possible, so seeing every commercial flight from EGAC in FS2002 is pretty interesting!

What I like about FS2002 is the extremly large amount add-ons one can get. For me I love flying heavies...mostly military
Windows 7 Home Premium (x64) ,2.70 gigahertz AMD Phenom II X6 1045T(6-core), two HD (1TB and 500GB), 8gb RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5570,

Thanks all who wrote me emails.  I'll send the flights to you in a few days.  I probably should have mentioned that although they assume you are flying the Baron there is no reason they can't be flown by other twin props and light A/C.  The runways are often too short for bigger planes.  lso, all the flights are short hops, most take less than an hour.

at the moment it has to be either the lago tornado i recently downloaded, its definatly a great plane to fly or the planes from the harrier add-on i have, all of them are great flyers, and its great fun flying them round the memphis area buzz the pyramid and then fly south east down to tupelo and start buzzing friends houses:)
