Sonic boom

How do you install the sonic boom effect for flight sim 2002? I'm having trouble understanding the instructions that came with the download. If anybody can help me with this subject I would be most greatful. ;D

I haven't tried this file myself as I couldn't see the point.  ::)
The sonic "boom" can only usually be heard on the ground many miles away from the aircraft. You would not hear it in the aircraft itself.

I dont think you realy can see the "explotion" unless you film it, then slow it down. (I saw some show about it last night)
I could be wrong.

I tried it, and added it to an F-16, but when the sim starts to load the aircraft, you hear a low thud. After that, you could do Mach 2 and not hear anything at all.

I deleted it.

;DYeah, I have had it for awhile, and all I have ever gotten is that "low thud" that fisharno alludes to hearing.  Not worth the trouble, unless there's more to it, and I havent been able to get it. ;D ;D ;D

I hear the 'thud' as described before when I reach Mach 1.0...which is pretty much right.

Trust me Whitey. You would not hear anything in a real aircraft. The only way you would know you exceeded Mach 1 is by checking the Machmeter.

LOL...I know that Doug...you'll be too far away to hear because you're going so fast. ;)  It's just that fisharno and Splash said that they don't hear the boom at all at Mach 1.0 with the addon...but you do. ;)

The install Readme says that you should hear the "boom", after reaching Mach 1. Didn't work for me. I was going to e-mail the author, but Hagar's right. It's not realistic, so I decided to just remove the file, and stash it away on a Archive CD for posterity.

One day, I might have the world's biggest collection of questionable FS addon software.  :D

So, you got allot of them things, huh, Hagar?

All totaled, I've got about 7GB of downloaded FS addon files, for FS98, FS2K and FS2K2, on several archive Zip Disks, and CDs. That dosen't include what's currently in use on my local drive. But, (just estimating), only about 10%, or less, didn't live up to their expectations.

But, I look at it as everything was written by somebody and they put their time into it, so that's a good thing.
I'm sure "Sonic Boom" will be enjoyed by some folks, out there, too.

I'd really like to see a "Buoy Cup Holder" gauge.

One that wobbles and spins so when you do barrel rolls, your cup of coffee stays upright and won't spill all over the cockpit.   ;D

I had most of SimV backed up at one time, plus a lot more that never got posted. The files are all on CD somewhere. The problem being that I couldn't find a specific file if I wanted to. LOL  ;D
