ATC question

Howdy...

When I come into land on a VFR flight plan, my little pilot voice will say something like "DFW tower, this is 776 with 'Bravo' to land...."

What's the 'Bravo' part?  I've seen it say other phonetic letters before, but what am I exactly telling ATC with that?

Thanks in advance.

it corisponds to the atis information, each hour of the day is assigned a letter, and you have to tell the tower you have listened to the atis and saying the letter confirms it
