Hello All,

What does it mean to put a lock on the frame rates?

What benefits are there to locking your framerates at a specific rate. I have set mine to unlimited but would it run smoother if I locked the rates at a certain level?

Thanks

Indeed it would.

This is how it works:

The fps slider caps the number of frames per seconds FS2002 will run at.

While FS2002 is trying to achieve the figure you set it at, it's using resources that would otherwise be available for things like detailing scenery (reducing blurries!!).

As the human eye can't detect anything fastre than about 26fps, the rest is simply wasted resources. If you have the slider set to unlimited, FS2002 is constantly trying to improve the fps (even if it's at 200fps for example).

I'd recommend a maximum of 30. Once that's achieved, FS2002 will re-direct resources to everything else going on in the sim.

I'd defy anyone to tell the difference between 2 systems running side by side with one displaying 30fps and the other displaying 300fps.
