Thankyou Andrew...

Are there any patches by MS or any other scenery packs that are 'essential' in anyones opinion?

I havnt played FS 2002 in over a year now so ive lost touch with things.

I recomend Gerrish Gray's tree librarys, also available here on SimV.

I reccomend ActiveCamera too: http://www.anticyclone.be/active.html

Hope that helps,

Those trees look awesome... im getting them now.

Is there anything similar that makes the default buildings appear more realistic like they are more attached to the ground instead of how they are... i hope you know what i mean.

Also is there anything that makes the houses in Iraq look different to the houses in NY for example...as we know they are worlds apart culturally.

Thankyou both... those are some seriously good downloads...

Im trying to remember what niggles i had with the game when i last installed it almost a year ago... i know buildings was one... do those building dlownloads add buildings? some places were a little barren when a large city should have been there for example.

I really appreciate these links/files you guys are posting... please keep it up.

Many thx for whats been posted so far... im sure im not the only one who will benefit from this thread :)

Apart from booting up the autogen setting, the only way you'll get more buildings where they should be is by downloading landclass files.

They vastly improve the realisim of the scenery itself as opposed to terrrain mesh which is only concerned with the elevation. The combination of the two can produce dramatic results.

You'd be well advised to have a hunt for landclass and terrain mesh for the areas that interest you. Three's plenty of it about these days.

Don't know if you are a New Yorker like me. But as far as must have scenery go. A must have scenery file is the World Trade Center buildings! It just don't feel right playing my sim over New York and not seeing the Towers. It is a constant reminder of our hardaches, but yet a soothing reminder that those S.O.B.'s are going to get there's in the end!

The night textures really enhance the New York Skyline!

I too have the WTC installed... is it just me or does the whole thing just feel so empty and forgotten without them?

I know what happened... i know theyre gone... but it feels so empty without them... i cant explain what im trying to say but im sure some people may understand.

Thanks for the night textures... im adding those as i type this... also i added the NYC smoke... its not as good as i hoped it would be but it helps add something that wasnt there i guess.

I did see a screenshot of NY and the smoke in that screenie looked real kewl... much more pronounced than the smoke im using and im on full detail too :s

Thanks for all these great files guys, i hope others are benefitting here too.

Have to agree, I added the patch almost the day it came out. I can remember going up the WTC back in 1976, and I have photos of me as a 4yr old at the top.
The first time I flew in NY I couldn't work out what was missing, then it dawned on me.
I'll be interested to see which new design for the area wins, and then which scenery designer launches it first.

It's all good Andrew,

We all keep FS2k2 as real as it gets, but for me it is more of a memorial thing instead of realism. I can't explain it. While I am working (just across manhattan in the bronx) I look across the river and I don't see the towers and it leaves an empty space in my heart :'(. Looking at that empty space in manhattan, I get constant visions of seeing the towers smoking.
But when I get home and relax playing Fs2k2 it brings a smile across my face :) to see the towers (virtually) and not on fire. It is how I like to remember the towers.

I hope you understand how I feel, no one wants to make a big deal out of this. I am from New York and it just holds more meaning to see them, even though they are not there in real life. I will delete the old towers when the new towers are built. There comes a time when we do have to let them go. But for me right now is not the time. :)
