FS 2002 Pro ATC Speech

Calling all FS experts....small problem with ATC speech...it really slows down when heading thru clouds...it sounds like I'm in a tunnel and very tinny (not a good word but the best description I can find)...and as I said it reeeeeeaaaaaaaalllllllyyyyyyy slows down! Now let me tell you I have the screen settings maxed out...all settings are at their maximum...lots of AI aircraft also....I'm running a 1.8Mhz unit w/512 meg RAM on a GForce2MX/MX 400 w/64 Meg RAM on board...Frame rate standard 30 FPM....XP OS

I can eliminate the problem by clearing the weather (hence the clouds disappear) but I do like the realisim...

If there's no apparent solution I suppose I could get a new video card with 128 Meg RAM...

Anybody any suggestions?  ???

What density are your clouds in??  They might be to dense, make sure that they're around 20-30%  It would improve the speed a lot.  Try using less traffic as well, it might improve the simulation.

Looking at your specs, your graphics card is the problem.

It simply doesn't have the bandwidth to process the textures fast enough, which becomes most apparent in your case in clouds.

The speed of the output of your graphics card is slowing your whole PC down. You'd be well advised to consider updating it - ideally to a card without the MX tag if you're staying with GeForce cards (Get a GF4), or perhaps an ATI Radeon 9700 if you can stretch to it. You'll be amazed at the improvement.

Thanks...I checked the 9700 as you advised (not cheap)...but I see a 9800 is due out in the near future so I'll hold out for that...or maybe the 9900!!!!

Cloud densities were also maxed out....I did throttle back on their settings...it did help a little but I think the answer is a new graphics card...
