I will get right to the point, if you are going to buy AIRPORT 2002 VOL 1, --DONT-- It is the sooriest exuse for an upgrade i have ever seen. LETS START WITH THE GOODS AND BADS lol

BADS

1. They could not even get the box right, a miss print infact a prety big one for 737 fans. On the front is say's

"Includes a highly
detailed 737-400                It says thison the
airliner with fully                   majority of the box
integrated cockpit"

on the back it says one time only

"HIGHLY DETAILED
B737-700 WITH FULL                     finally they got it right
INTEGRATED 3D COCKPIT"

2. I have a 9700 on AMD XP2100 1GRAM, I think I meet the specs. Well I could not fly the fully integrated 3D cockpit with the new scenery vol 1 gives because it was so choppy. Landing at one of the smaller of the 7, it was impossible.

3. AI traffic just taxis right through one another, write before your eyes, flying over head I witnesed it myself.
and dont even think of mixing it with default ai. p4 10gig maybe.

4.THe 737-700's extirior is s-h-i-t, pardon my french. The front gear does not even pivot, IF you are looking from outside, wheels stay straight and the plane turns,as seen in screenshot at bottom.WTF were they thinking.

5. You get one skin  for this plane, and just to tell you how bad it was, me and my bro were trying to find the real one for a few minutes before realizing that was it, a sorry green ugly thing. One skin ,what a jip

6. There are no animated reverse thrusters, on this plane. Another awsome feture.

7. Taxiway  textures take the cake in this one saving you precious resourses by disapearing at 1000 feet its pretty funny.

8.There highly detailed airports are arent highly detailed at all, as highly detaled scenery would apear on maxed out settings at hethrow as seen at the bottom.

Goods

1. Good 3d cockpit
2. Godd virtual cabin
                Thats all the goods

Thanks for the heads up. I just want to add 2 cents worth by saying that with all the AWESOME freeware stuff around I wouldn't even think of buying anything for this game. Hats off to all the great designers that make my simming life enjoyable.

Really, there's so much to do and learn in the basic package that, along with the freeware addons, I could spend years figuring it all out.  I don't have any payware addons.

I've been thru all the Sims, even before FS98 and have never felt the need to purchase anything.   If any of the freeware stuff didn't suit me I dumped it and got onto the next one till I found something that did.     The result, I now have more aircraft, airports and scenery than I can ever fly or visit.     Half the fun has been building things up via research and trial and error and coming to respect the work or certain individuals who must live on this site.

The only payware that I have are Just flight Harrier Jumpjet and photographic scenery for the SE of England.  In total the two together have cost more than the origional FS2k2 pro cost.

I personally like the scenery and love harriers so I'm pleased with what I have, I haven't been tempted by anything else and from what I have read on here I am glad.

The quality of some of the downloads from this site is way higher than the payware available so I'm going to stick with freeware.  My only gripe is that I cannot seem to get to grips with designing myself!

Will ;D

i have the harrier add-on to, its definatly worth the money, but then again as the others have said why get payware when most freeware is awsome as it is. my only problem with the harrier add-on is there is no ski ramp in yeovil and the ones on the carriers dont work as you go right through them. but since is till cant get my joystick to work i still cant get on flight sim. and thanks for the heads up on airport 2002

I totally agree that Airport 2002 Vol. 1 is a big disappointment. I also agree that the vast majority of the free add-ons are very good. But I also think some of the paid stuff is pretty good, such as Flight Deck Companion. I also like the Piper Archer II.

True, there are excellent payware packages out there. i've got the Cessna421 and I love it. Bill Lyon's custom classics are also fantastic and are worth every penny. If i could afford it, i'd buy 'em all lol ;D

I been eyeballing a few paywares myself, but a bit reluctant to buy them, since I can't return software if they turn out well.  I suggest a forum for users to rate softwares they purchased or used, like a 1 thru 10 rating system.

If you're not sure about purchasing a payware package, ask about it here
