FS2002 SOund issues

I just installed fs2002, and I'm not hearing any traffic control period. I have a SB Live Value, and I can't seem to understand why I can't hear anything but the engine. I've checked all the settings in FS2002, and they are turned on. Any help or suggestions?

Hi Duane,

Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question, but have you clicked the ATC icon?

Yes, I have, and when I think I should be getting air traffic, all I'm getting are a bunch of beeps

Are you getting any of the ATC text windows come up with instructions from the controller?

Have a look in Settings/Sound and just make sure you have the box checked for Air Traffic Control and the slider at a reasonably high level.

Yeh I checked, re-checked, and re-checked again. Everything indicates I should get voice, but all I get its a bunch of beeps that sounds like morse code. It's starting to really frustrate me. In what folder are the ATC sound files, and can they be checked to see if they work at all?

They're not in a format you can test as such unfortunately - they're in a compiled file.

Ok - try this:

Open `Run` from your start menu and type in: dxdiag

Then run the sound tests under the relevant tabs. If they're all ok, have a hunt for updated sound drivers.

Your problem may be that some panels that you use in fs2002 makes your audio properties go back to desktop speakers, check to see if you are in the 5.1 settings. I have had this problem and i can tell when i loose some sound that i know was there before exspecially when you are using 11 speakers on your gaming comp. I finally dumped that sb card and found one that didn't change it's settings by them self. Plus there are issues with that card  and  AMD processors that creative can't sovle that sucks.
