Hi all, still finding it hard to get straight in line with the runway.
What tips are there for doing this, I know practice , practice, practice, but I am still finding it hard, I seem to be ok, but when I get closer, I am just left ot right of it, and have to fight the aircraft hard to do a perfect centreline landing, by the way this is on a 747-400.
Thanks for any help...Tomcat61

start with the smaller aircraft and work your way up to the heavys when you have perfected it in the cessnas and the 737's. and also dont try and uuse big corrections. where possible use smaller corrections as you'll be fighting all the way down otherwise

For the heavies, give yourself 10-20 miles to line up

Lock on to the ILS beacon even if you don't plan to use it. It will give you an additional visual cue and if you get into trouble you can always hit approach hold. Sort of like having training wheels.
Open a GPS window for another visual cue.
Aircraft/Navigation/EFIS is another "training wheels".

Excuse me if I'm pointing out something you already knew, but otherwise try this ...........
Go to VIEWS, select VIEW OPTIONS, AXIS INDICATOR and put in the small red V onto your Windscreen, this will give you an aiming point.
I know it's probably not realistic but I treat it like a
HUD (Heads up display.)
Works a treat for me, only trouble I've found is it doesn't default so I have to put it in each time.
