Benchmarking

Postby Smoke2much » Sat Feb 22, 2003 3:10 pm

I have just downloaded the Utility FS2002Benchmark and I thought I would share my results.

Normal settings, ie the graphics level that I fly at most of the time.

Avg 17.1
Max 29.2
Low 2.05(!!!)

Maximums on everything:

Avg 5.97
Max 10.20
Min 4.17

Minimums on everything:

Avg 39.31
Max 55.63
Min 18.88

This was based on the benchmark flight provided with the utility over 3 minutes.  The last one was on a 480*600 screen and it looked awful!!!

Here's a little note about the 3DMark2003 benching utility before you run it,

3DMark2003 is a DX9 benchmark. You should use 3DMar2001 until you get a DX9 card. Future Mark has said the same & I'm just repeating them so when you run the 3DM2K3 dont feel bad if you get a low score.  Even the R9700 and NV30 are feeling the heat of 3DM2K3, I barely made it with 30fps!

What video cards supports DX9?
ATi Radeon 9500's & 9700's

That's it for now.  For all you GF4 Ti series video cards (like me) you're gonna have to wait until Nvidia releases it's DX9 compliant ones or you can always go with ATi  ;)

Toremelinos, toremelinos.

Sorry.  Got distracted then.  I'm sorry blackbird but I don't understand your last post.  I have a Geforce 2 MX400 64Mb and Dx 9.0 and it works fine, I am getting an average of 5FPS improvement across all games with it.

Smoke-a-lot,

I understand you have DX9.0 installed on your computer & it works fine just like the rest of us, but I wasn't talking about DX9.0 on your computer.  3DM2K3 runs best with DX9.0 video cards i.e. - ATi Radeon 9500 - 9700's.  ATi Radeon 9500 - 9700's are the only video cards on the market to fully support DX9.0 and the latest OpenGL

Thanks for your explanation, I really have trouble with these computer things.  My telephone is two paper cups and a piece of string.  It makes a little more sense now.

What sort of frame rates could I expect with a full DX9.0 graphics card and everything maxed out? 30-40 or more?

Thanx

Hi Black...!

The free-bee version of 3D Mark 2001 works fine on my n-Vidia Ge-Force 4 Ti card and is handy for comparing different settings on your card, resolution, colour depth, anti-alaising, etc....

From...

http://www.futuremark.com/

(I have DX9 installed).

...FAB to watch...!

Cheers...
Paul.

P.S. ...Hi Toremelinos...!
When you run 3D Mark you are presented with a benchmark running into the thousands!
You then rush down to the Pub and say, "Hi Lads, I've just ran 3D Mark 2001 and I've got a score of 5999".
"Wow, that's really cool", they all shout, and buy you a pint.

LOL...!

I got 2449 with my card, but I'll be happy to have a pint as long as it isn't Watley's Red Barrel.
