Tuning NDB's

How do you tune to an NDB?  The frequencies are such that they won't go into the NAV radio.

You tune NDBs into the ADF radio.

ADF stands for automatic direction finder. It points directly to the NDB no matter where you are or which way you're facing.

NDBs only have a 37nm range, I think, so be careful that you have the correct ADF in range, as there are many NDBs..

That was my problem - I was trying to tune in beacons that were too far away and getting funny results.

Some radio panels will let you listen to the morse code.  You can see what the code is from the map view.  This is how real pilots tune in stations.  Each time you tune in a new VOR or NDB you should listen to the morse code to make sure you have tuned in the correct one.
