I second that.  Don't waste time with FS98 aircraft, there are so many subsequent models that are just great and the modeling structure had been vastly improved by then.  Even some or many FS2004 aircraft will work in FS2002.

I understand your point, but there are several planes that I have for 98 that didn't come with 2002, like the Blackbird or the Space Shuttle.  So, since I have a dial-up internet connection, stuff ain't real fast, but I do have these files sitting around, I just wanted to be able to use them.

P.S. How could 2004 planes be used in the 2002 program???

I remember that in FS2002 and for a while (until I got bored of reaching 99.999 feet and being stopped there) I used a pair of Shuttle models (with and without boosters), and that shuttle work for FS9 too.

As for the blackbird, I've seen a lot of them in the past years that worked brilliantly for FS2002 and a little less than that for FS9. Don't really remember where said birds are though, not really my kind of planes, but like for the Shuttle above, it suffice I think to search on the major freeware sites for FS on the net to find them.

As for dial-up... I understand your problem all too well, but really can't help you there. Sorry.

Some planes are modeled with a 3d system (Gmax) that works under both sims. Sure, the flight dynamics do not really behave the same way, but the planes themselves do work under both FS2002 and FS9.

Aircraft created specifically for FS2004 are not compatible with FS2002. The ones that work are either original FS2000/2002 models converted for FS2004 or created before the FS2004 SDKs were released. Much the same situation as with FSX right now.

Hagar, Gmax built planes work on both FS9 and FS2002 (and X too), always had. A Gmax plane might have incompatibilities only regarding some gauges crossing the borders from a sim version to another, and sometimes the dynamics too, but no more than that. The model shouldn't give problems, if Gmax.

At least AFAIK. :P

Not if they were created for FS2004 with the FS2004 SDK. The MDL file is incompatible with FS2002. The same applies to FSDS3 models.
