Hi guys,

   I read over the posts, and I'm a little confused about 1 a few back, the one that says about it being embarrassing to forget yor in a 747 and trying a barrel roll? I must have missed something there, because as long as you've more than 10,000 feet between you and the ground a 747 will do a slow, majestic barrel-roll just fine. You just need that 10K under you to pull out of the 70 degree dive you end up in, that's all. Nothin' to it!      OK, that's it for the bragging, I promise. (at least for this post)

   Seriously, the 747 will nose-dive, and drop 10K during the roll, but in FS it'll do it. In reality...   I doubt anyone would be crazy enough to find out. BUT, a 707 AWACS CAN barrel-roll in real life AND do an Immelman turn as well. They had all kinds of problems with fuel flow and leaks, but the plane has done it.

   I also want to say thank you to everyone for your nice comments on my landing. I will admit tho, that particular landing wasn't quite as good as it looks in the pic: my wingtip gear touched down first and I finally came to a stop with my front mains just touching the warning lines at the end of the runway!

  BTW, Kirk Ollsen's F-16 Viper is a BLAST!!! But I still prefer the heavies.

plain old barrel rolls in a 747 are nothing these days. Try doing it under a bridge or through a tunnel then it becomes slightly impressive to the group of nutters here, you would be surprised what they have done to even the biggest of the planes avaliable:)

Hmmm...  OK, How about this: Let's see someone try to land (have the wheels firmly touching, or at least to where they SHOULD be touching) a plane on top of an airborne AI 747, then post a pic here. Flying thru the Eiffel Tower or something is largely a matter of having a good, well calibrated joystick (I still use the keyboard). But landing on top of a moving plane requires abosolute perfection in airspeed, course and decent. I think that's a pretty good challenge.

besides the fact that with crash detection on, you get stopped mid air before you get to close, and without it, you just fly right through.

i found the c152 quite hard to get to grips with.. the pitch is quite lively i started out on the 737 and progressed up...and finaly to the a340 just recently

as for the ai trick its hard to formation fly with them at the best of time.. landing one on top without hitting the tail must take some doing alright! i think sue has challenged some nutter to do it!

   Well Craig, I took your advice and bought a joystick, it's a Saitek Cyborg 2000, $10 +$5.50 S/H off eBay. Was this a good buy?

ive been messing around on fs2002 for about a day and a half and got a747 to float over the ground at 3ft UPSIDE DOWN if was a tad difficult to get it the right way up againbut its possible bythe way nice landing

its a good sturdy joystick, and i promise you'll see a huge improvement in flying enjoyment:) everything will become a little easier thats for certain

I think last message got lost.....

I had the oppertunity to land a real single engined aircraft a fer months ago.

I have done a number of hours, 'experience' flying in the air including airobatics but the last time the pilot allowed me to land

A real aircraft gives you the feel which cannot be gained from a simulater, however the experience gave me a better feel fo landing FS aircraft.

If you get the chance take the controls of the real thing.

But WOW - I can't even land a 737 never mind a B52
