My cat's breath smells of cat food.

Where is it written that the thread has to be a slave to the topic as origionally started.  Conversations evolve, develop and wander.  One of the strengths of the forum has been that real pilots are here alongside us simmers.  I would much prefer to read posts about the real aircraft and apply them to the sim than the other way around.

The Spitfire is a great aerobatic aircraft, in the right hands.  See Ozzy for details.

Will,
Since we are allowed to go off topic (which I was afraid to do, being a novice in forums and still trying not to break any rules...):
You fly a old warbirds it seems. You know some with good virtual cockpits? I have a Spit and a Seafury, love to fly them but  miss the VC's.

Thanks
AJ

That's just my opinion I'm afraid.  Flame wars have started over "off topic" issues lol.

The spitfire on Vintage page 7 has a good VC

Will.

There was a Sea Fury released today at flightsim.com, don't know if it has a vc though. I'll probaably get it tommorow.
I've recently started aerobatic flying as I don't get time for cross country anymore and I've found a few Pitts Specials over at flightsim.com, and the trainer here. The trainer is a B**** to take-off in but is ok for flying and the singles are great allround exept for my inability to taxi them ::).
I read in the TLUK ssection that many 2k4 aircraft will be compatible with 2k2 though they will be underpowered, and that the 2k2 aircraft compatible with 2k4 will be overpowered.

Hi

I've got some Pitts's as well, the ones by Mikko Maliniemi. They fly very nice and look good. Have the taxi problems as well.
I have this feeling it's not really realistic; add a little throttle and the thing starts spinning around its axes.
Maybe one of the real pilots know if this is the way they do taxi in real life?

Crazy, how is the Sea Fury?
Cheers AJ

the Pitts are the same ones, I forgot the designers name ::), they look great though 8)
I havn't got the  Fury yet, as its a 20MB file and I've got a 56K. Probably should have looked closer when I glanced through the new files  :P

Hi AJ...!
The Pitts is a very light-weight aeroplane with a very powerful engine fitted.
Piling on the power will increase the gyroscopic effect of the engine and propellor and cause the aircraft to veer left. Right rudder will be needed to correct this during taxiing and take-off...!

This affects most single-engined aeroplanes..!
...except my Honda... ;)...!
LOL...LOL...LOL...!

Cheers mate... ;D...!

Hi guys
What a day. Seen MotoGP?......That was awesome. Both for Honda and Ducati lovers I guess.

I found the Sea Fury at FsFreeware, it's great. One of the best looking aeroplanes in FS I have ever seen. Flight caracteristics feel realistic as well (in the bloody difficult way, I've never flown anything like it in real life - Archer II is the closest I guess). Landing is a tough affair though, very bouncy. And taxiing...well it's got a powerful Centaurus radial 18 (man thats a lot of valves to adjust. I bet they were glad they weren't desmodromics ;D) so it was bound to be trouble again. I guess having a Force Feedback twist-stick makes it harder then with pedals. I'll have to practice.

Paul, I can live with some torque when revvin' the thing up but don't you think it is a bit to much in the Pitts?

Craig, the 19.8 Mb is without sound (!) but it's worth it. See if you can find someone to download it for you!!!
I wouldn't use the suggested Tempest sounds by Sandberg though- they are not very powerful. I use my Blackburn Beverly sounds for it, much better.

See if I can find some cheese and onion crisps to go with my Grolsch.
Cheers

well it's got a powerful Centaurus radial 18 (man thats a lot of valves to adjust. I bet ..........
I used to work on CV440's and DC-6's(both have the R2800(Radial)). The valves are actually pretty easy to adjust, everything else in a muther to get to though! They are notorious for cracking Exhaust stacks. It's a good thing I'm a welder, because I had to weld a set of wrenches shaped like every letter in the alphabet!  :-X

To back-track a little; the dynamics are a litttle screwy on some of the planes with a high power-to-weight ratio(the Aeroworks, with rudder coordination OFF,full power, stalled, full control deflection, from external view, spirals around like a knat!), but many of the dynamics are accurate. As stated before, it's just a matter of flying them until you get used to the control sensitivity.   8)
.....so I loaded up the plane and moved to Middle-EEEE..........OIL..that is......

Yeah so I noticed.
Landings on the Sea Fury and taxiing gets better after just one hour at the controls. Have to get used to the landing gear configuration as well.

About the valves; it's a good thing you can reach them (which is more than can be said for a 16 valve 400cc Honda V-four - have to remove front forks, both radiators and it still is fiddly), it's more the number of them. That would be at least 36?
