I think it's got to be a voluntary thing with the websites, and most of them have voluntarily complied. If they ever want any future advertising business from Abacus they had better voluntarily comply.
My ArrCab package says:
YOU MAY FREELY DISTRIBUTE THE ORIGINAL, UNCHANGED ARCHIVE FILE AS LONG AS NO MONEY IS EVER MADE BY ITS DISTRIBUTION.
Mr. Hogen could not sell Abacus any more rights than he owned. If Abacus owns distribution rights they own them subject to my right to distribute it as stated above.
I'm not a piracy advocate but I don't appreciate the idea of someone buying distribution rights to freeware and then trying to claim it's no longer freeware. It's freeware and Abacus knows it.
