Quick Question

Postby Eyelevel » Wed Jul 16, 2003 7:58 am

Hello All,

New here and would just like to ask, can you watch replay's of your flights/landings etc.......I know you can watch them on a graph, but I mean can you watch it from how you actually play? I hope this makes sense lol

Many thanks in advance

Yes,  you can.  On F$2002, you can either record it as a flight video or you can go back and watch an instant replay.  (The default for instant replay is the last 60 seconds, but you can change this.)  Both are accessed through the "Options" menu on the top of your screen.

If you want to improve the quality of your playbacks though, make sure to download ActiveCamera...it makes for a much better viewing experience (cinematically).

WELCOME!
Great edit, Bob.

Hello Hyperion,

Many thanks for your fast reply, and you must be a mind-reader as I did not half an hour ago download the active camera!  I am rather annoyed at myself though as I can't seem to stop myself downloading extras for this terrific game! LOL

I have hardly played it yet!!

Do you mind if I ask another question?

Soundblaster Re: Quick Question

Postby Eyelevel » Wed Jul 16, 2003 8:17 am

I recently upgraded my Comp to:

AMD Athlon XP 2200
Socket A Board
512MB DDR
GeForce 3 Ti 200 128MB DDR
Soundblaster PCI 128
Win XP

Now thing is I would like to know what kind of settings would be best for me to have a smooth flying experience, I tried to take off from Heathrow Airport last night and it was a little jerky, this may be due to the fact that I downloaded and installed alot of the ProjectAI Aircraft, well infact all of them, was that a good or bad thing to have done?

What are the average settings that you and others have and are more than satisfied with? bearing in mind that you have the same more or less system as me.

Sorry for all the questions lol

I used to have a Pentium 3 850Mhz before I upgraded to this and strange thing was that FS2002 ran alot smoother even with lots of addons.

Any feedback from a few of you would be nice, so as to give me something to go on

Cheers

Sounds like you should be okay, but your RAM is a bit low...most people here would recommend at least 512, but it all depends on what you can afford.  (I ran F$2K2 Pro with 128 for a while, and had very minor problems.)

As for the Project AI questions, I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass those along to someone who is more familiar with AI traffic.  I've tried to improve my AI traffic a few times, but I got frustrated and gave up.  lol

As for Add-Ons, there are just sooo many out there.  I don't think there's such a thing as "too many", provided your system can handle them.  (I just discovered a great one last night that threw some pilot/flight attendant announcements in, and if you did too many rough maneuvers, you heard the passengers screaming in the back.  It was great!)

Check out some of the Virtual Airlines as well.  This adds some incredible realism to your sim experience!

You don't by any chance have the link to where I can get that thing where the passengers start screaming etc..sound reallly good!!! lol and the way I fly they'll be fighting to jump out!

When you mentioned about the ram 512 well I do have 512, its my graphics card that has the 128, or are we getting our lines crossed?

I have 512 system ram (sticks) but the graphics card is 128, do you mean my graphics card should have 512? (I did'nt think there was such a card with that amount on, then again I don't keep up to date with the latest in technology, I just like to play and when the PC starts chugging then I know that time is approaching for me to upgrade :(

Actually talking of the ProjectAI, I finished installing it last nihgt and went and took off in a Cessna from Heathrow (not sure where your from) lol and I circled above the Airport and noticed a stream of Jets all heading for the Runway, and one or two coming in to land, it looked terrific!  ;D

Strange thing I found though, was that Heathrow Airport did'nt look particularly detailed, maybe I am doing something wrong, but as for the ProjectAI, I was amazed, it looked great, one thing that may put people off though is that it only caters for Jets, and nothing else, anyway, just thought I'd tell you a bit about it  :)

LOL Now that I read your post a little closer, I notice that I had read it incorrectly the first time.  haha sorry.  (I'm at work 90% of the time I post, so sometimes I get a bit distracted.)

Yes, I meant your System RAM, and now that I've read your post thoroughly and accurately, your system sounds fine.

As for that download, I honestly don't remember what it was called, but it's in the downloads section under "Miscellaneous Downloads".  The thumbnail of it shows a panel with a little voice bubble sticking out with a captain announcement.  It's pretty cool though.  If you look for it that way, you should be able to find it.

That's alright mate no problem! lol

Er I think I remember now that I saw something for download that had a bubble on it, but isn't it shareware? like trial first?

I did download something else called FS Boarding and another program called Enviro, but the latter I only really wanted for the METAR Real World Weather downloads, especially as tonight we are supposed to get Thunderstorms here because of the Heat!

But from what I know when you download it, you'll get the weather that happened 1 hour before, I think thats right lol

I tell ya, I'm so so confused with all the downloads out there that I think I'll wait awhile now and just play the game! lol but may have to wait until tomorrow if we get Storms tonight!

Don't fancy risking it tonight lol  ;D

Yeah, it's a trial first, but the demo is kinda fun.  To be honest though, I uninstalled it after a little while, because it disables ATC. It's set up to be a seperate F$ adventure.  (I just remembered that.  lol  Been a hectic couple o' days.)

It's fun for a while though.  ;)

No Tutorial in the zip file for it, there might be on their site though, but sadly did'nt make a note of it.

If I can find the site later I'll post back, if not just got to the Google search Engine and type in Active Camera for FS2002 and I'm sure it will be there.  :)

There is a tutorial for it, but for the life of me I can't remember where I saw it.  (I had to read it to understand it.)  I thought it came in the zip, but I'm obviously mistaken.

I've posted answers to some AC questions in the other thread, hope it helps!

Oh I beg your pardon, I did'nt think there was or indeed needed to be a Tutorial, I take it this means its complicated to use? I hope not as I will be lost then LOL  :)
