Weather it is or Weather it aint

Postby Eyelevel » Wed Jul 16, 2003 3:41 pm

Hi All,

I have a Weather problem, in that I downloaded the Real World Weather and when I started the Sim, it had Thunderstorm for where I chose to fly, but when I un-paused the game, a few scattered clouds appeared, then I switched to the external view from behind the Aircraft, but as soon as I did this the few clouds that were in the sky, well they just disappeared and all I was left with was clear skies!? what's wrong? any ideas please.

What that fast?! blimey........thing is though do I need to remain online for me to experience weather changes? I know to most this will seem like a daft question, but I really don't know much about the real world weather side of the game......hence my probable ignorance! lol

You don't need to be online to experiance weather changes, infact real world weather stays the same until you quit the sim or update it manually again. However, FS2004 will update weather every 15 minutes, can't wait.  ;D

Were you flying at the time you updated or were you on the ground. If you were flying at the time, you might have just passed into the next weather cell. FS2002's weather is devided into a grid and you only see the weather at the nearest reporting station, which explains sudden changes. Once again, FS2004 promises to get rid of this, allowing you to see what you're flying into.

I can't wait the moving clouds. I will get on an chopper and chase them.........ok maybe I won't, but it would be cool to be able to see clouds moving and such. FSCOF, here I come.

No I was on the ground whilst downloading the weather, but thanks for the explanation though, and 2004 does sound great, however I hope that it will be ok for people who have lower end machines, I say this because I still have some old hardware installed and just can't upgrade anymore, especially as I will be needing a new Monitor soon as this one is on its way out, I'm sorry to say  :'( its done me proud for about 3 years, but time to go I think.

Oh well at least I understand the weather more now!  ;D

Cheers

Well that explains my recollection of the thread, but it doesn't clear up the singing sheep in my kitchen! ;)
