A/C carriers

Postby FS2002fan » Tue Jul 08, 2003 2:11 pm

Hello,
I have a question about aircraft carriers.  I have seen several pics of airplanes landing on them.  I have also heard (in another post) that there was one off the coast of California.  Do you have to get a scenery add-on or did MS put it in.  If it is already in there please tell me how to get there.  If it isn't please give me a link to where I can find one, freeware only please. Thanks in advance to the posts.

http://www.speakeasy.org/~rhogen/arrestorcables.htm

this site will give you the locations of the stock and give you more to download.

You need the arrestor cables program to launch and trap which is now part of Flight Deck 3. IMO, it's the only reason to purchase FD3 ;)
If there is an airshow with in 2 states of me I'm there

As Rifleman says, there's one off of San Francisco, and another off of San Diego, Ca. (West of Lindhberg Field.)

The Lincoln, in San Diego has a working meatball that helps a lot with approaches.  All of the carriers in Rifleman's post are default carriers, so no other scenery is needed.

Over at avsim you'll find a beautiful New Zealand carrier, probably the best model graphically for FS2k2!
Oh and you'd better let those nice gents know they aren't allowed to distribute ArrCab anymore, as Abacus own the exclusive rights too it, and they could be sued!

Question, Ozzy;

The ArrCab Carrier package, (18 carriers), is still freely available or distributable from sites other than ArrCab?

To the best of my knowledge everything was pulled, if we still have the carriers available here then they are still okay, just not the ArrCab program. If they have been pulled then I guess its everything. Pete is v.law abiding, and also will take any designers wishes into consideration too.

Mark, do you know if this New Zealand carrier has an accessible hangar deck, in case we have a low approach and need to land in there ?  8)

Don't think so Ken, but I'll double check for you. I've been mainly practicing bad weather night landings in my Seafire on it.
Mind you that shiny new Yak of mine does need a workout....... ;D

Yup Ken, I like visibility to be limited to within the cockpit only! Lots of love British type rain, and a crosswind that would impress Heinz ;D

I used to fly with Rich's group, VUSAF, only the program is payware. The carriers are just static scenery and are still freeware from his site.

No versions at all are supposed to be uploaded or passed on in any way, shape or form.

By way of a "review"....... I just bought the Flight Deck III program at Comp USA...... and I am REALLY disappointed with it.  I think more went into the packaging of the box than what is IN the box.

I have gotten freeware stuff that the general level of quality seems to far exceed the planes and carriers in this package.  Maybe the "arrestor cable" idea is a pretty unique and difficult concept to implement...... which it seems to me depends heavily on FSUIPC to start with.

FD III is not something that I would recommend for the price.  Maybe about $10 max.  If that.

This is the second "payware" product that I have added on.  The other was terrain mesh stuff...which was an incredible bargain at the same price range.

So that's my $0.02 on the subject.

best,
