Postby Jamie » Sun Mar 25, 2007 10:01 pm

I have the absolutely beautiful American Airlines CV240 , but have yet to figure out how to use reverse thrust .
Thanks ,

Reverse thrust in any and every plane is engaged pressing and keeping pressed the F2 key when throttle is idle (a tap on F2 to engage reversers at idle power, keep it pressed to bring reversers to max power). When reverse is not needed anymore, a tap on the F1 key will reset throttle to zero.

PS
Reversers only can be engaged on ground. No on-flight reverse thrust in FS.

Not all aircraft have reverse thrust either.  This has been a frequent question lately.  I would dare to say most piston engine aircraft don't have reverse thrust.

I don't have the Convair 240 in my hangar, but seen that I knew the real deal had it and there was a question on how to use it, I simply assumed that plane had it and went with the flow. :P

Hi All,
I am aware of the use of F2 and use it regularly when flying jets .  The Convair instructions are not good at all regarding reverse thrust and , as I recall , simply says to pull reverse thrust handle and throttle to 20 In. of MP ( or something like that ) .  I will have to go back to review exactly what it said , but was not much and I don't see a reverse thrust handle on this panel .  May be on an optional panel ???
I really love this plane and the wing views ( which I am big on ) are just superb !!!  I can't enjoy simply flying a panel around so feel the need for good wing views .

Jamie,

I haven't tried this yet, but the CV-240 instructions say to set the throttle to idle, click on the reverse handle then increase the throttle.

The reverse handle is located at the bottom of the 2D panel, just to the left of the supercharger switches.

Let us know if this works.

Regards,
JerryH
