FS 2002 Pro reinstall issues..

Postby djack1 » Sun Mar 27, 2005 10:20 pm

Here's a few questions:

1. Recently had to reinstall 2002 Pro due to OS reload.  Now as I am taking off, or in flight, the throttle will not stay where I want it.  I lose power and have to keep hitting the gas.

2. Before the reinstall, I was able to pan using the arrow keys.  Not just look left, right, etc, but pan.  I don't remember what I had to do to reassign those keys to achieve that function.

3. The menu bar is not at the top of the screen where I can access the aircraft, airports, weather, etc.

Accepting any and all help.

Thank you.

You didn't mention which OS you reinstalled from/to but it looks like you just didn't back up FS.  As a result you are starting from scratch.

You can reconfigure everything from the "Settings" menu at the opening screen.

In particular, #3, you were running in windowed mode (not particularly frame rate friendly) and you are now running in full screen mode.  To see the menus hit "Alt".

Thank you for the reply.  Windows 98SE.  Trying to nurse this old system for a little while longer.

Thanks for the answer to #3.  I knew it was one of those keys.

Just flew my Chicago loop for a test of the throttle issue.  The Cessna 172 had no problem.  It may have been a bug in the P-51.

Thanks again.

It wouldn't hurt to recalibrate your joystick in W98 Control Panel.

Jim,

Joy stick recalibrated.  Throttle still a problem.  Other MS default aircraft suffer from the old in and out. Throttle goes all the way in then part way out, then back in, etc.  Very erratic.

Haven't figured out the pan question either.  When you are in virtual cockpit mode, the arrow keys allow you to pan in the 4 directions.  Somehow I was able to do that in regular cockpit mode.  I'd hold down the look left button, then hit the left arrow key and be able to look further to the left.

Thank you

I don't know about panning because my stick has a hat that controls it.

I just emailed you a document with all of the FS02 default key commands.  It may or may not help.

Maybe look in your keyboard/stick settings and see what looks funky.

2) Dont know that you can 'pan' using the keys, but to pan using your POV hat, look in FS2002.cfg, [CONTROLS] section and modify or add  'pan_in_cockpit_mode=1'.

Cheers,

Dave,

Thank you for the reply.  I have to forget about panning for the moment.  I am back to having throttle problems.  It might be my joystick.  During one flight, if I banked to port, the engine would die.  I tried the same maneuver many times, with the same result.  Turns to starboard were unaffected.  I have reloaded the driver that came with the Saitek ST220 with no improvement.  All planes are affected, in their own way.  It isn't just 3rd party 'craft either.  Some can't even get off the ground before the throttle shuts down.

Strange.
