When I sit down to "fly" I often have no idea what aircraft I might prefer, and scrolling through the "select aircraft" drop down can be tiring. Usually I know what TYPE of plane ie light twin, or fighter jet etc. I'm in the mood for, still the tedium of the drop downs is taking some of the fun out of the experience. So I have modified all of my 150+ aircraft .cfg files so that the (example)
ui_manufacturer=lockheed
ui_type=rf84 shooting star
now reads:
ui_manufacturer=fighter jet
And have all of my fighter jets under this heading, regardless of manufacturer.
A Cessna 310 would now read;
ui_manufacturer=light twin
ui_type=cessna 310
ui_variation=private red/white
And, of course, all other light twins are in this same dropdown. And so on for all the categories I choose to list.
So now the Husky amphib is not a dozen or so drop down manufacturers away from the Cherokee float plane and so forth.
Works for me ...
