Smoke trail effects

Postby edzmen » Thu Aug 12, 2004 8:24 am

My question is regarding smoke trail effects in FS2002:-

How do you get the frequency of the smoke emmition more frequent?
Im using it with a jet and once its over 350kts there is a gap in the air between smoke puffs and it doesnt look very accurate.   :-[

Can anyone tell me what i need to change in the effect file to increase the frequency of moke puffs?

Many thanks,  ;)

Ed,

In the.fx file [emitter] section, there's a value called 'rate' e.g.

Rate=30.00, 40.00

This defines particles per second emitted. (First figure is minimum, second is maximum.) The higher the figure, the more frequent the emissions and the more dense the smoke. The downside is that it also more video card intensive, so FPS might suffer.

You mean contrails or just regular smoke? If it's contrails and it's emitting wrong something is up with your sim.

Hello again Microlight!

Thanks for the advice -

The original Rate setting was

Rate=0.50, 0.55
