Go into your flight map, and find the ILS approach frequency of your runway. Input that to Nav 1. Then Adjust the OBS of your gaige to runway heading. If the needle goes left, so do you. Up = up etc......

Is that what you want? Try it out in the deafult Cessna 182 first.

Coppershot,

Try this website http://www.navfltsm.addr.com/ to learn about navigation, etc.

THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP. I GREATLY APPRECIATE IT BUT I CAN'T FIND A FREQUENCY LISTED IN MY FLIGHT MAP. IT JUST SHOWS THE COORDINATES AND HEADING OF THE RUNWAY. I ALSO NEED TO KNOW WHERE IN NAV1 AREA TO PLACE THE FREQUENCY( ON THE LEFT OR RIGHT SIDE OF THE STANDBY BUTTON?) I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHEN AND WHERE I SHOULD SELECT THE APPROACH AND NAVIGATION BUTTON ON MY WAY TO THE DESTINATION AIRPORT. SHOULD I LEAVE AUTOPILOT ON ALL THE WAY TO TOUCHDOWN? I AM FLYING THE COMMERCIAL AIRLINERS SO I WOULD NEED THE INFORMATION FOR THOSE PANELS. I ALWAYS FLY BY HAND AND I FLY EXCELLENT ON MY WAY TO THE TERMINAL, JUST NEED TO KNOW HOW I CAN AUTO-LAND THE PLANE. IF YOU COULD GO INTO SOME MORE DETAILS FOR ME, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS ONCE MORE.

Coppershot, make sure the runway has an ILS, then find the freq. for the ILS on the runway that you want to land on, and imput that on the right side of the standby button of Nav1, and push the standby button. Line up the needle of VOR1 for runway heading, and put AP, FD and APPR buttons on. Hope this helps! Alex

like martianfrogz said not all airports have ILS frequencies and you hte have to use a VOR...I think all airports have VOR's not sure though....

Theres a very simple way to solve this .... Have a look in the tutorials section on the site ... theres a very good one,  I cant remember who by,  for the default 737 ... it takes you right through an IFR flight from  gate ... to gate.

It includes an ILS approach.

Theres probably one in tutorials section for light aircraft too.

Tis an amazing site this if you take the time to look around  ::) ::) ;D

cheers
