New Plane Install

Postby LinuxRocks » Wed Jun 30, 2004 2:43 pm

Hey there,

I looked all around and didnt see any posts about this, but Im having a problem installed new planes.

I tried to install this plane and panel , and others from this web site as well, but this is an example. The other planes do the exact same thing...

(http://www.simviation.com/files/1jets/TC02_BBJ.zip ) and I extracted it and copied all the files to the correct location (I have done this before with other planes, so I know what to do (Or so I thought)).

What happens is when I select the place from the aircraft menu, there is no representation of the place in the box. Only black. Also, when the plane loads, I only see black with a few out of shape gauges. I cant switch views or anything but exit...

What am I missing here?

Thanks!!!

Hi Joe. I'll check the file out for you when I have a spare moment. This might take a while. It might have been better if you had given the file description & a link to the page it's posted on rather than the file itself. Then I could see what's what & might have been able to suggest something without downloading the file. ;)

PS. I assume you've read & digested the Aircraft Installation tute here. http://www.simviation.com/acinstall.htm

Sorry about that... Here is the link to the page

http://www.simviation.com/fs2002jets10.htm

Its the FS2002 - Aircraft BB2Jets (Boeing Business 2 jets) in colours of Africa-Mozambique "Tropico Capricorneo 2002" one...

Also, The FS2002 Lockheed L1011 LAM on the same page does the same thing...

Thanks for the reply and let me know if you need any additional info...

Thanks!!!

Joe

OK. You mention 2 problems with the BBJ.
What happens is when I select the place from the aircraft menu, there is no representation of the place in the box. Only black.

I suspect this might be caused by a conflict with some older 3rd party aircraft & WinXP. If you have WinXP try patching the MDL file with the MDL Repair Utility. http://www.simviation.com/fs2002utilities_ess1.htm
There are 3 MDL files in the Model folder. Make sure you patch the correct one. Boeing BusinessJet2 MOZ.mdl

Also, when the plane loads, I only see black with a few out of shape gauges.

This is a repaint of an original model by another designer. The repainter forgot to include the panel BMPs. You can search round for the original which might be in the FS2000 section, install another panel or alias it to the default B737_400. Read my Aliasing article here. http://www.simviation.com/lair/aliasing1.htm

From your shot the L1101 panel BMP is in the wrong resolution. I would have to try it to be certain. You can replace the panel as for the BBJ.

Hope this helps.

The L1101 panel works fine for me. It might be your video card or display settings. You could try tweaking the main panel BMP as shown in the Black Windows section of my CFS1 Panel Clinic. http://www.simviation.com/lair/CFSpc.htm
This shouldn't be necessary for FS2002 & I can't guarantee it will fix your problem. You could always try another panel.

While both these aircraft are not bad quality they're posted in the earlier FS2002 pages. They're also both by the same author so I suggest you try some by a different one.  The files are posted in date order. Many of these early files are FS2000 aircraft updated for FS2002. There are 56 pages in the FS2002 Civil Jets section alone. The ones posted on the later pages should have the latest features & therefore be the best quality.

Hmm.. Out of curiosity, what is your display resolution?

I have mine at 1280x1024. Also, Im running a GeForce FX 5900. I would imagine that should run the panel..

Also, I downlaoded some other planes and panels and they seem to work as well..

I will try some others..

Thanks!!!

You might like to check the video card manufacturer's site for updated drivers. Also install the latest DirectX from the Windows Update site. I have a very low-end rig compared with most people here. I'm running all my M$ sims on an old PIII 800, 512 Mb RAM, Voodoo5 5500 & WinMe. I use 1024 x 768 x 32 display resolution in both FS2002 & FS9.

Not sure what it was, but its working now...

I had to reinstall my system tonight and when I reloaded FS2002, they all started working... Must have been something in Windows...

Oh well, they all work now... Thanks a million for your help  :)
