swaying Tu-144

Postby malick » Tue Jan 27, 2004 10:20 am

Hi guys!

I'm new to all this ... but have developed a taste for the Tupolev 144.

However, I noticed that the one I'm using starts this "swaying" or "rocking" motion as soon as autopilot mode is engaged.

It's so bad that I'm on the verge of developing motion sickness!!! hehe

What is a newbie to do?

I hope that I posted this question in the correct forum, and to hear from you all real soon!

Regards,

Malick ???

Hi Malick, welcome to SimV. This sounds like the aircraft isn't quite properly trimmed before you activate the AP.
You need to get her balanced in straight and level flight with no climb, descent or roll occuring, then hit the AP. Otherwise she will start oscillating, and you'll have to reach for the paper bag ;)

There are two types of aeroplane, Spitfires and everything else that wishes it was a Spitfire!

Hi Ozzy!!!

Thanks for the welcome, and for the advice!!!

I'll run through those steps with the Tu-144, a  Concordes or two, and hope to get her trimmed real good ... as good as all good birds should!!!

If that doesn't work I suppose  I'll just keep fooling around with the flight dynamics. (I started doing this as I didn't experience oscilation with 2 different versions of Concordes)

As for the paper bags ... dude ... I'm all OUT!

I messed up the air file so bad that she went into this spell of "rotation" after take off, a few flips ... and then went on to drop out of the sky like a dead duck.

Sorry about the duck, but at least I have a copy of the air file. hehe

Thanks again. Cheers!!!

Malick :)
