ILS approach landing

Hi you all !!!

Could somebody please help me...when I do the approach for 737 the aircraft steers away from the indicated course...don`t tell me it is the DH or the nav/gps switch coz I have set my nav 1 and course accordingly....PLS don`t refer me to that website with all the info....not that it is not necessary...
I`ve tried the tutorials as well...but when I try it on my own selected flightplan...I have to go around and land without ATC....Sorry for bothering...I know this is a boring topic for the experienced pilots...

No it is not a boring topic at all. Actually I find landing the most entertaining part of a flight.

Are you using the APR button or the NAV?

You have to use the APR in order to have the autopilot fly the approach. To do so tune your NAV1 receiver to the ILS frequency and set the OBS knob to the runway's exact orientation. Now, when you are to turn towards the runway just press the APR button on the autopilot panel (of course autopilot has to be engage) and do not touch anything else on the autopilot panel. The autopilot will do the approach for you (align ti the runway and descent in glideslope) however it will not land the airplane. You have to disengage the autopilot at leasr 200-300 ft from the ground and you have to land manually. If you do not disengage the autopilot the plane will do the "missed approach" or something "similar".

However I prefer to fly the approach manually from the beggining. Once you learn how to do itit is easy to mster the technique with some practise.

Yes I use the APR button, the problem is I align the 737 with the runway and set the course indicator to the runway heading...but the moment I press APR things go haywire...I don`t even use the GPS switch...
Don`t you use the ATC to fly in anyway...?

I assume you have the NAV/GPS switch turned to NAV, the NAV1 is selected in your radio stack and the received selector (left bottom at your panel) is at the upper position for NAV1. Also flaps are preset manually before engaging the APR and you initial speed is an appropriate one. Also, the time you engage the APR is when you intercept the glideslope with flaps at 30 and wheels down. Another reason could be stong wind in which case the autopilot approach is not recommended.

I tried autopilot approach once (calm winds) and the approach was correct and aligned. I am afraid I cannot think of anything else.

That has happened to me before on FS2002 but never on FS2004 so I think it might be a specific 2002 bug...

Try with an add-on plane and see if it works.

However just yesterday I tried once more approach using the APR button and the default FS2002 B737. Everything was perfect. I don't think it is a bug of FS2002.
