Postby gilbates » Mon Sep 22, 2003 5:10 pm

my system is a Athlon 3000 + AMD running at 2.16Ghz and 512 Mb mem with a Nvidia Geforce4 mx 440 se vid card and a couple of hard disks , what sort of frame rates should i be reliably getting guys , i had it locked on 44fps but at times it dropped right down and things got jerky , so now its locked at 25 fps , i have everything maxed out , but do i really need it all maxed out what could i turn down without loosing too much detail and realism , i mean whats the ideal settings if there is such a thing

There are some disagreements about what this number really is, but I've often heard that the human eye can't see faster than 20fps anyway.  I've got mine locked at 40 just to be safe.  lol
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

Actually, the human eye bums out about 30 fps. ;)

Try turning down the dynamic scenery on notch.  I have mine set that way, I turned mine down and started getting great fps instantly.  It was doing about 30-35.  Now I get upwards of fifty normally.

Dynamic scenery as has been posted before by the baron, I turn mine off most of the time.  Anti-aliasing also has a huge effect on my system which is similar to yours but less powerful.  If I turn mine off at the card I get massive framerates compared to when it's on.

Altitude also has a lot to do with things, at 25000ft+ I get frame rates of 70 ish, but with the same settings it can drop down to 10 or less on landing.

So reading between the lines guys the answer is

UNKNOWN ;D ;D ;D

and ya call yourself EXPERTS  :(

he he i guess i just gota mess more but i will shut down my dynamic scenery and see what effects it has

what gets up my snout is that one of the settings ( cant rem which ) gets rid of AI`s which realy annoy me when on-line but also has the disadvantage of reducing the appearance of gates and other scenery

and i know you shouldnt see AI`s when on-line but , well , i do ( god knows why ? ) probably something to do with the truck loads of stuff i`ve installed and forgoten about ???
