Two Elstree airports!!

Postby terbert » Sat Jul 19, 2003 5:10 pm

Hi chaps,

Have just noticed on Fs Nav, there are two Elstree airports (UK)   To the left of the main Elstree is another which is really Leavesden, (now disused I believe), but it too is labelled Elstree. ??? It does not show  in the airports listing and Elstree shows only once. It is not a problem, I was just curious as to why this should be ???

I think Tony this is because Leavesden is now re-opened as part of Elstree Studios just outside Watford. Mind you its a while since I've been home....... Where abouts in Bucks are you?

I know it well, I used to live in Little Chalfont many moons ago.

Hi Ozzy,
Thanks for reply. I keep on trying to pluck up courage to move out this rat-race, but I have only moved half a mile since I was born. It has changed round here, but the skies are never empty. My house is under Heathrow, Luton, Northolt, Wycombe Air Park, Flight paths, so the variation of aircraft is large. All the historic types from wycombe seem to do their aerobatics over our estate, from Fokker Triplanes to Spitfires (oh, that lovely engine sound.) As I write a Havard type has just zoomed over. Anyhow, Keep up the good work on the forum, most helpful.

It might be the filming studios. They're the only ones with their own runway.
