Flight Video

Postby Eyelevel » Fri Jul 18, 2003 11:02 am

Hello All,

Does anyone else have a terrible performance using the Flight Video, and I mean from the perspective of taking off, and looking from a side on view of your Aircraft?

To be exact, and I did post this in one of my other posts, but I'll say it again, the aircraft moves along ok, but the scenery/ground, seems to jerk terribly, and I'm trying it out using the Cessna, god only knows what it would be like with a Heavy, I can't understand it as my system is not poor, and should be able to cope surely........I used to have a Pentium 850Mhz and there was no problem, so what the hell?  :(

I've just re-installed the whole Sim, along with the various addons I have and its still a joke.

Funny thing is that when actually flying or doing a take-off, its smooth and no problem, it seems its just the Flight Video option that it can't handle.

Any help/ideas would gratefully be received  :)

Nope, that's one I've never had.  I've been REALLY fortunate though, and I haven't had any problems with F$ (knock on wood).

I may have asked you this already in your other post, but what do you have for the rest of your system?  (i.e. RAM, video card, etc)  Problem might lie there.
Great edit, Bob.

Nope...from my limited knowledge, I'd say your system is just fine.  I have no idea what the problem is.  Sorry!

This is really strange, I have tried doing the same as with Flight Video with Instant Replay, and Instant Replay is as smooth as you like, so I don't understand why Flight Video is so jerky, if anyone else has any ideas please help.

I have now put in the 30.82 drivers for my card and yet as far as Flight Video goes still no change, but as for normal play, same as 41.09's

Very odd

Try doing an instand replay all the way from the beginning of your flight. Not so instant though. Anyways, if it is jerky at the beginning and smooth near the end maybe it has something to do with RAM? WHat about the flight video from inside the cockpit?

I (and everybody I know) have had bad performance with that flight recorder-I think it's just lousy programming on MS's part.

Ah now that is interesting and my stupid fault for not telling everything as usual!

From inside the Cockpit during a Flight Video it was ok.

I just did an Instant replay from beginning to end where I took off at Meigs (my my that's beautiful!) and it was lovely and smooth and I watched that from an external viewpoint.

Hmm, weird. My performance was not that bad. At least the ground didn't move. The aircraft's wings moved but just a bit you would hardly notice it.

Yeah I know, I just wish I could get to the bottom of it to find out why its so bad, because its only in external view.

Its like you put your hand out in front of you and then move it left or right, but as you move your hand you then stop, move, stop, move, stop and so on, best way of describing how it looks on screen LOL

That's roughly how it playsback  :(
