FS2K2 Cargo Pilot Flight

Postby fisharno » Mon Jul 14, 2003 1:20 pm

I tried the Cargo flight, from KDFW to KATL, using the FS2K2 default Global Freightways 747. I flew the scenerio, as MS configured it, which is a GPS straight-shot, except I used Real World Weather.

Normally you're supposed to use RW9, at KATL, and use the aproach plate included. But using weather, there was a wind, out of the East, so ATC vectored me to RW27, instead, and set me up on a left base for 27. Except, the angle they put me at, to intercept the ILS was somewhere around the inner marker, and that didn't allow me enough time to get down from 7,000 ft. without doing some aerobatics, so I had to go around, and make a right base aproach to 27, from 3,000 ft.

Anyway, this is just another scenario that could have been fun had ATC been able to react correctly to the flight plan deviation.

Oh well. It can only get better from here.

Yep.

I encounter this a lot, too.

Most recently I flew a DC-8 freighter from Mogadishu to Brussels at FL350.

Now you know why real pilots say what they do about ATC!!! I think M$ have got it pretty accurate, I've had more near misses over France, Spain and Italy in the summer than the rest of the world put together. Seems awfully accurate to me ;D
I have a cartoon up of an air traffic controller yelling 'I did it, I got all the dots in the little circle at the same time!', hmmmm not a million miles for reality ;D ;D ;D

PS. Any air traffic controllers out there reading this, I love you and I want your babies ;) Honest, I was just joking, no don't vector me into that volcano arrrrgggghhhh :-X

..."And meanwhile, we join Ozzy as he's still digging his hole, and getting deeper, and deeper".......

I made a mistake. It was a West wind, that caused ATC to divert me to RW27.

And yes, emh8. If you don't know to BC and quickly reorient yourself, to go around and try set up for a new ILS intercept course, without looking like a drunk driver on an L.A. freeway, you're screwed.

Challanging, to say the least in a Heavy!
