Well, you might think from some of my posts that I work for Saitek, but I promise, I do not, nor have I ever.

With the disclaimers out of the way, I absolutely LOVE the Saitek X-45!

The throttle is smooth, the buttons are plentiful, and it just "looks cool".

The only thing I would have to say that is bad about it, and the guy in front of me at the store said the same thing when I purchased it, is the "pinky switch".  The default is the checklist popup, and I often hit it at the wrong time, but it's nothing major.  (It's not enough of a problem that I've reassigned it, let's put it that way!)

All in all, I'd give this stick a definite two thumbs up.

Good luck!
Great edit, Bob.

Heres what I use....prior to the Saitek X-45 I used the Thrustmaster Flight Control stick, ....got that one cause it was a replica of some sticks in use in front line fighters in the late 50's-early 60's.......
Rudder control is a side to side finger squeeze, on the underside of the throttle handle...........

the x-45 may be ok for jets but because of the spring its no good for helicopters, you cant make small control inputs, my brother used it and he hated it, i use the x36 its predesesor (no spring or lighted buttons) and its brilliant, that with the pedals and its great for helicopters, I dont fly fixed wings so maybe someone else can help you out there.

hope this helps
