vertical speed setting

Postby rdar » Thu Jul 10, 2003 5:51 am

Hey all,
Do you guys know how to change the vertical speed setting, coz I downloaded some aircraft, and when I was trying to change the altitude, it was written that the vertical speed is 800, instead 1800. And it makes me hard to control the aircraft altitude.

If I use default aircrafts such as global air freight etc, and if I try to change its altitude, the vertical speed will change to - / + 1800. FYI, I downloaded same type of aircraft, such as Boeing 747-400, only different airways.

Thank you for ur kind help.

When you alter your altitude the VS will go to the max allowed VS(gives you an indication what not to exceed)
Depending on what you are flying the VS is adjustable on the radio stack(ALT VS),the settings bar along the top of the panel  on the gauge itself or a combination of them. Easy to do just put the cursor on your choice of location and look for the +/- and click to adjust to the VS you want.
White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.

The default vertical speed is set in aircraft.cfg in:

[autopilot] ...
default_vertical_speed=1800  (or whatever)

If you are ascending or descending with AP you can temporarily change this rate as Packercolini described.  Once you reach you AP altitute the temporary rate turns off and you will have to manually change it the next time you ascend or descend.
