IFR checkride

Postby hikariken » Tue Jul 01, 2003 9:44 am

I try this since 3days but it is always the same problem. I keep my approch VOR and at aout 3NM from the runway or the airport the examinator told me to do a missing approch procedure. she told me to climb at 3000feet and to turn for heading 160. when I am at 160 3000feet the checkride stop and it told me I have failed. Do I missed somethig?
more the brefing told me to have the VOR approch and ILs chart but it seems to me that they are inverted with the order from the examinator.

Well, if the IFR checkride is anything like the PPL, it's full of bugs and very difficult to pass.  There are several posts here regarding the various checkrides, and they seem to be almost impossible to complete successfully.

Now, before everyone jumps on me again, notice I said ALMOST impossible to pass.  The last time I said that, I got 2.7 million replies with screenies of their license saying "see?  it's not impossible!"

ALMOST.  VERY DIFFICULT.  CHALLENGING UP THE WAZOO.
Great edit, Bob.

Google it.

I've never done it and haven't tried either. BUT, as far as i know, a missed approach is when you are set to land and you just miss because you are too high, maybe you have to keep going and start descending at a lower rate or much too close to the runway, then when you see you are not going to make it staret going to back to 3000 ft like if you were going to do a go around or something. Like i said, I've never tried it so what i saud might not work, its worth a try though!

I said IT MIGHT WORK, NOT SAYING IT WILL, JUST SAYING IT MIGHT. MIGHT MIGHT MIGHT.

A missed approach is executed when it is safer to go around for whatever reason ;)
