Eiffel tower collision

Postby Robertson » Tue Jun 17, 2003 4:43 pm

I was sightseeing around Paris the other day, when I decided to do something a bit risky and fly under the Eiffel tower.  Just as I was entering the space between the ground and the first platform, FS stopped and claimed that I crashed.  I quickly switched to spot view and it was clear that my plane hadn't actually collided with anything.  It appears that the Eiffel tower is solid, rather than having a bunch of empty space perfect for stunt flying.  I remember being able to fly "through" the Golden Gate bridge in FS2000 (haven't tried this in FS2002 though), so this surprised me.

Has anyone else encountered something like this?  Any mod suggestions?

Some things you need to turn off
"crash" Or Ignore crash or what ever that is
in settings to fly through them,
The big cranes at the sea  ports are
like that too!!!

Wouldn't this allow me to fly through anything?  I just want to fly through open spaces in buildings and other structures.  Thanks for your suggestion though.

Once you turn off collisions you can fly through any opening, but in order to ensure that you are doing what you want, add smoke to your plane and you'll be able to show that there was no contact made....I did the Eiffel Tower long ago here.....system is a different one that I use now.......

The biggest thing that'll go underneath is an AN-22. Trust me on this! For certain stunts you need the crash detection off, and like Ken says, put on smoke and assess yourself. You can also try the hole in the middle, much more fun. For some reason FS treats certain objects as solid.

This is the way it looks when you do it that way......
