FS 2002 - strange problem  plse help!

Postby Bernie » Sun Jun 15, 2003 6:35 am

fs2002 worked fine till abt 2 weeks ago.
since then all small (prop driven?) aircraft sink into the
groung immiediately after startup - after the situation resets same happens again.....
the same happens with computer generated aircraft (but
again it seems to affect small ones only) - they 'jump' into the air by themselves and then crash/sink into the ground. Bigger Aircraft like 737/747 etc. work fine.......

my specs are

xp  intel 2,53ghz
512mb
nvidia gf4 4200ti 128mb
directx 9.0
80gb hd

i have recently updated windows xp as well as
nvidia drivers.....

Has anybody a similar problem?

Plse help!

Bernie you need to get rid of the XP updates. They cause loads of trouble with FS2k2. Just go back to the default settings. You can do this with a system restore, and reset it to how the machine was 2 weeks ago.

I trully don't get it. I keep downloading XP Updates and i never get ANY trouble. Maybe i'm in for a couple of surprises soon enough.

I keep doing the Xp updates too and don;t see glitches.  The only one that was an issue was mentioned here in a post on the forum.....that it slowed down the machine.  I deleted it and the machine DID speed back up.

But I don't get jumping aircraft and such  ;).

best,

I don't remember which number it was, but it was in the  thread titled "Important Important Important".  Do a search for that and you can get it.  Also, I guess MS fixed the bug, so when you delete the update, XP will download it again, only it should be the fixed version.  My XP system wanted to download the same file about 3 times after it was fixed.  Don't know if it was really updated yet again, but it kept the same update number.  Whith the new update, I haven't noticed the performance drop, so I guess it works fine now.

It was the new improved security patch, Ramsa posted a warning about it.
Some people seem to have been having a lot of trouble with XP and FS2k2. I've only had to totally re-install once, but that was due to a software conflict that lead to a machine crash, but having read a lot of threads here containing XP problems I'm beginning to see a pattern forming....

Seems like MS is making more problems with every 'update' ::) :-/

Rather than updates, why doesn't Bill Gates just send emails to his customers that say, "I just wanted to remind you, Mac is gaining popularity.  Thanks, Bill."

;D
Great edit, Bob.

I am really guessing it has nothing to do with the updates... I have several XP updates, including the one Selbio has listed (Q811493).  My A/C don't sink into the ground, jump about and it runs just fine... normal speed.
