Upper Paauau Airstrip, Hawaii

Postby fisharno » Sat May 10, 2003 5:26 pm

Someone posted a topic about where the most challenging airstrips are, a little while back.
I found a great one.

Upper Paauau Airstrip. 40 mi. SW of Kona Int'l, Keahoe.
N19-13.58' / W155-32.52'
Alt. 2,598 ft.
Approach heading, 315 degrees. (Unless you're really good).

Good luck.

HI29 not bad that :)
White on White fly all night.

Red on White you're alright.

Red on Red you'll soon be dead.

What got me is the elevation changes. The runway actually sits in a hole. After the 4th try I finally touched down.

Big Fun ;D
