Getting pics of my flights

Postby hennjj » Sun Apr 27, 2003 8:49 pm

I am wondering how to take pictures of when I am flying.  Now I take it that it would be like MSTrain Simultator, by pressing the print screen button, so I tried that.  So if the answer is yes just hit the print screen button, then where do I go to look at the pictures, where do they get stored.

Now this one is a little tougher

hit the key nest to alt and the prtscrn key at
the same time, this puts your pic on a clipborad
go to paint or kodak imageing or what ever photo
system you have open a blank photo and hit
edit on the tool bar and then paste and
walla you have a microsoft moment

Just hitting "Print Screen" will work also. You still have to paste it into a photo program. If that's too much trouble you can get a program called FSScreen that will do it automatically and save the pictures in .bmp format.

Print Screen key works fine for me?

Either way, the problem with this system is that you can only take one screenshot and then you have to stop and go into your paint package and save it as Brad described. This of course interrupts your flight.

If you don't save it and press the key again, it overwrites the first image, losing it.

The better bet is to get one of the screenshot utilities in the file library. There are several about, and as is usually the case when this question comes up, people will chip in with their own recommendations for which they think is the best package.

The crucial point is that the software can usually store hundreds of pics when the print screen button is pressed [b]without[b] interrupting your flight to save them in the paint package.

Try FSscreen first. It's very simple to use, free and available here at SimV I'm sure.

Open 'paint', 'irfanview' or any other paint/picture editor program before you start flight simulator, when flying press 'printscreen' and then press 'alt+tab' to go directly between the two programs, 'edit - paste' for paint and save. Thats without FSScreen. Im sure everyone knows about 'alt+tab' but if you didn't know, you do now. (like me).

I'v tried FSscreen, GrabClipSave, and now the Multigrab that Hagar mentioned.

Multigrab is by FAR the best.

I just took a full size screen image (1024x768) in jpeg format of my dektop using both Multigrab and GrabClipSave.

The GrabClipSave file was 216k and had the usual loss of quality. Check the screenshots out from my last two RTW legs where I've been using it. Particularly on the shots from the cockpit, you can see the loss of detail in the text and GPS display. In the shot I just took, the text under the icons on my desktop has deteriorated badly.

The same picture of my screen taken with MultiGrab produced a 144kb (62kb smaller) file with massively better quality! The text under the icons on my screen is all clearly visible! I'll be using this from now on - no question!!
