Getting guages to work

Postby p.j.wainwright@bto » Thu Apr 17, 2003 7:44 am

Hi,
As a relative newcomer to FS2002 I have been having fun downloading one or two extra aircraft.  Most of these I have installed with no problems.  However, having just flown Swansea-Dublin on the Air Wales ATR42 I thought I would download the very nice Czech Airlines ATR42-500 from simviation.  The plane looks great and sounds great - but I can't get the guages to appear.  I've copied them into the guages folder of FS2002, which has worked with other downloads - was this wrong?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul. I haven't tried this particular aircraft. It might well use the new XML gauge format introduced with FS2002. The gauges are CAB files (not the usual GAU) which look just like zipfiles but DON'T extract them. To install this type of gauge paste those CAB files direct to the FS2002\GAUGES folder.

Hope this helps. ;)

Hi p.j.  :)

If Hagar's solution doesn't work (and I'd expect that it would), could you post the contents of the panel.cfg file here please?

OK- sorry - don't quite know what happened, but I have reinstalled and all now works fine.  Just for the record, they were .gau files, not CAB, but I've obviously got everything in the right place now.

Thanks for the help,
Paul
