Argh! Scenery Problem!!!

Postby ross607 » Wed Apr 02, 2003 3:12 am

Hi Guys,

Hope someone can help - Finally got round to installing some scenery addon's I've had for a while last night and an odd thing happens -  After installing my first scenery I click on ok, watch it rebuild the scenery database which it does fine, then I go back into the scenery database so I can add another one but the first one I added has disappeared!! I thought it might be something wrong with that particular scenery but I've tried this with quite a few sceneries I have yet to install and they all do the same.  I looked in my scenery.cfg file and the entries I'm adding are in there in the correct [area] order they are just not showing up as added in the scenery database in the flight sim.

In my scenery config i noticed that I have reached about [Area 331] - I discovered that if I deleted say the last 3 scenery entries and then went back into the sim and added 3 new ones, those new ones would go in no problem, but only those 3. If I tried installing a fourth then nothing again.... its as if I've reached maximum limit of sceneries I can add on?? have to say 300 odd scenery addons doesn't seem like alot... could I ask a favour of some of you to have a quick look and see what your [Area xxx] goes up to in your config files? just so I can eliminate that from list of possible causes - Or has this happened to anyone else? I really find it hard to believe that I have reached the upper limit.... I have about 700 meg worth of downloads to put on yet, it can't be!!!  :)

Cheers

Ross

Cheers bud  :)  - yep i'll do that tonight then... bit of a pain in the ar$e to do but never mind!!

In response to your other thread, good news about RTW trip and I'm glad you're getting there with your re-install. I upgraded motherboard, memory and processor recently which made huge difference to FS2002, i'm still hanging on for graphics card prices to come down though - the G4 MX are around

Hey yeah, if you have Liverpool CC i'd love it as long as its no hassle for you to send me it? let me know cos I'll give you my work e-mail address to send it to - my hotmail account has a 1 meg limitation on files I can receive.... although if its less than a meg then just send it there (hotmail addy is in my profile).

I've downloaded the latest version of Liverpool so will have a go tonight - I had problems with this scenery when I first installed it, the bridge wasn't aligned right with the mersey, somehow I managed to sort this out by swapping around bgl files from earlier and newer versions and managed to get the bridge spot on by some miracle!!! - I'm using a freeware uk terrain mesh and I think the Paul Derbyshire scenery is recommened for use with some vfr payware mesh.

I think I'll take your advice on the graphics card - I need bandwith more than anything right now!!  :)
